London Vet Show demonstrates its pedigree

The London Vet Show has reported growth after their most recent show attracted over 5,500 attendees over the two-day event, which has been named Exhibition News Trade Show of the Year twice.

MD of CloserStill Media’s vet portfolio, Rob Chapman, said: “It’s been a successful year for the CloserStill Vet Portfolio, culminating in 5,596 delegates and a real who’s who of the key suppliers to the profession gathering at the ExCeL in November for the 11th edition of the London Vet Show.

“It was packed full of like-minded professionals. We saw a significant increase in the number of owners, partners and procurement staff attending this year. This is reflective of the fact that the London Vet Show really is the epicentre of annual veterinary business.

“The 2019 event marked a new phase of the event whereby the LVS-space was being used by both commercial partners and smaller vet groups for their own specific needs. Furthermore, this year there was a definite shift towards providing memorable experiences for the audience – both within the exhibition and the theatres. Coupled with the continued support of headline partners like the RVC and BVA and a bustling exhibition – it was a very special atmosphere.

“There is no one-size-fits-all vet, and thus the London Vet Show needs to cater for all types. This is why we are diversifying our offerings, while maintaining the quantity and quality of the event.”

As well as featuring careers, clinical and political content, the BVA hosted a wellbeing lounge. The lounge featured a chill-out zone, offered fresh smoothies and 5-minute mediations and mindfulness exercises. Other features included a theatre of content, an exhibition space and a seating area branded with rainbows, which aimed to show support for the LGBT+ community. In addition, Vets4Pets created a ‘a Hollywood Cinema experience’.

London Vet Show’s marketing manager, Rachel Kilmartin, said: “This year, we were able to softly engineer social interactions at the London Vet Show. This was particularly evident in new features like London Vet Show Community Masterminds – a private space to support Facebook Groups (like Vet Mums, Vets: Stay Go Diversify or the BVA Young Vet Network) to meet-up live and ‘hack’ an issue unique to them. It was very well attended and proved that although the London Vet Show is the biggest event in the industry, it doesn’t need feel isolating or intimidating.”

2019 saw the debut of other initiatives at the London Vet Show, including the TVM & Vets: Stay Go Diversify Mentor meet-up, the Family Room, live recordings of the Podcast Borborygmi – Noise from The Veterinary World in partnership with Vet Times, and several stands hosting break-out content.

The show continued their efforts to work towards sustainability and reduce waste from the event with and charity donations of leftover food and office suppliers and recycling schemes.

Chapman added: “Not only have we just hosted our most exciting London Vet Show ever, we delivered six more events over 3 continent and seven cities. All while our flagship event here in the UK continued to attract new and returning visitors and exhibitors.”
