GES awarded H&S certificate 18 months early

GES has secured the new international ISO 45001 certification for health and safety.

The ISO 45001 standard replaces the ISO 18001 certificate, and is designed to reduce accidents in the workplace as well as increasing employee safety.

The ISO requires all companies with the qualification to recieve the new standard by March 2021. The full-service live events provider has achieved its award 18 months ahead of the deadline, making it one of the first in the events industry to do so. The certification covers each of GES EMEA’s offices in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

Head of health and safety at GES, Paul Ormbsy, said: “The event industry model often requires fast paced build with a hard deadline on open day. It is essential that we balance the need for efficiency with our very real health and safety responsibilities. ISO standards are scrupulously independent, and this accreditation gives organisers, venues and exhibitors confidence in our dedication to the highest possible standards.”

Managing director for GES Exhibitions,Jason Stead, added: “We are passionate about health and safety at GES andcommitted to fostering a culture of safety for our teams, customers and stakeholder. I’m proud for GES to be among the first in the sector to achieve ISO 45001 and encourage the industry to get on board this game-changing initiative.”
